WESCO SENIOR CENTER NEWS LETTER FOR  – JULY 2018

LET US BEGIN BY WISHING EVERYONE A HAPPY, SAFE AND FUN FILLED INDEPENDENCE DAY. PLEASE BE SAFE IN YOUR TRAVELS AND FAMILY AND FRIEND OUTINGS THAT YOU MAY ATTEND. KEEP IN MIND AND REMEMBER THE REASON AND CELEBRATION OF THE HOLIDAY. THE CENTER WILL BE CLOSED ON THE FOURTH OF JULY SO THAT EVERYONE CAN ENJOY THE HOLIDAY WITH THEIR FAMILY AND FRIENDS ALIKE.

OUR SICK LIST OF CONTINUED ILLNESSES OF OUR MEMBERS SEEMS TO BE LINGERING STILL. MS. EVELYN HEMSTREET WAS IN SPECIALITY CARE CENTER WITH HEALTH ISSUES OF HER HEART AND SWELLING OF HER LEGS AND FEET AND OTHER ISSUES. WE WISH HER A SAFE AND SPEEDY RECOVERY WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES TO DEAL WITH ,WE WERE INFORMED THAT HER DAUGHTER WILL BE COMING TO PENSACOLA TO PICK HER UP AND SHE WILL BE  MOVING /LIVING WITH HER DAUGHTER IN ANOTHER STATE DUE TO HER HEALTH ISSUES. SHE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL. AL CAVALIER HAD HIS PACE MAKER PUT IN AND SEEMS TO BE DOING QUITE WELL WITH HIS RECOVERY. WE ARE THANKFUL THAT ALL WENT WELL. BERNARD BREEZE PASSED AWAY FROM SOME HEALTH ISSUES THAT HE COULD NOT OVERCOME AFTER BEING IN THE HOSPITAL. OUR PRAYERS GO OUT TO HIS CLOSE FRIENDS TOBY AND MATTIE AND HIS LONG TIME FRIEND AND CARE TAKER MARK, ALSO MS. AGNES, HIS LADY FRIEND WHOM HE LOVED TO BE WITH AND ENJOYED COMING TO THE CENTER WITH ON FRIDAY NIGHT SENIOR NIGHT OUTINGS. WE ARE ALSO SAD TO REPORT WE LOST ANOTHER MEMBER ON JUNE 3RD. (CLAYTON PEACOCK) WHO HAD BEEN BATTLING CANCER FOR QUITE A FEW MONTHS AND COULD NOT OVERCOME THE ILLNESS. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO HIS LOVELY WIFE (KATHY) AND THE FAMILY FOR THEIR LOSS OF SUCH A GREAT HUSBAND,FATHER,AND GRANDFATHER,AS WELL AS A SPECIAL FRIENDSHIP WITH ALL WHO KNEW HIM.MARY GRENN’S HUSBAND IS STILL DEALING WITH CANCER ISSUES AND THE FAMILY APPRECIATES EVERYONES PRAYERS. THEIR DAUGHTER IS ALSO DEALING WITH CANCER ISSUES AS WELL. GWEN CHILDERS SON HAD SURGERY IN MISSISSIPPI AND IT IS REPORTED THAT IT WENT WELL. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH HIM FOR A SAFE AND PROPEROUS RECOVERY. DARRELL MASHBURN IS RECOVERING FROM KNEE SURGERY AND SEEMS TO BE DOING PRETTY WELL. OUR PAST VALENTINE QUEEN MS. BERNICE SHIRES WILL BE MOVING TO THE HOME STEAD VILLAGE ASSISTED LIVING FACLITY IN THE FUTURE AT SOME POINT AND TIME,BUT SHE WILL STILL BE ATTENDING SOME OF OUR SCHEDULED EVENTS WHEN IT IS POSSIBLE FOR HER TO DO SO. HER SISTER WHO LIVES IN GEORGIA ALSO RECENTLY HAD A STROKE AND IS NOW RESIDING AT AN ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY. ALBERT RITCHEY IS HAVING SOME HEALTH ISSUES AND WE WILL KEEP HIM IN OUR PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS AS WELL FOR A SUCCESSFUL AND SPEEDY RECOVERY FROM HIS PROBLEMS WITH HIS HEALTH. WE ARE SAD TO REPORT THAT WE LOST ANOTHER MEMBER SHIRLEY HOFFMAN DUE TO HAVING CANCER THAT SHE COULD NOT OVER COME. SHE WILL SURELY BE MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW HER. OUR PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY FOR THEIR LOSS OF SUCH A LOVING MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, AND CARING PERSON TO ALL. DOUG FOUNTAIN HAD KNEE SURGERY ON MAY 30TH.. AND ALL WENT WELL, WE ARE THANKFUL FOR THAT, AND WE WISH HIM A SAFE AND SPEEDY RECOVERY. LINDA EMMERT HAD SOME SURGERY DONE AND IS RECOVERING FROM A SECOND PROCEDURE THAT SHE HAD DONE AND WE PRAY FOR HER TO HAVE A SAFE AND SPEEDY RECOVERY WITH NO FURTHER HEALTH ISSUES TO DEAL WITH FROM THE SURGERY’S. IT WAS VERY NICE TO HAVE MS. LOLA CHURCH BACK VISITING WITH US ON OCCASIONS. WE ARE THANKFUL AND PROUD THAT SHE IS DOING A LITTLE BETTER THAN IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS DUE TO HEALTH PROBLEMS. SOPHIA MCHUGH HAD HEART SURGERY IN JUNE DUE TO SOME HEALTH ISSUES OF CONCERN AFTER HAVING A STRESS TEST. WE WISH HER A SUCCESSFUL AND SPEEDY RECOVERY. ANGIE CUSTER HAS BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL DUE TO HAVING PNEUMONIA AND SOME OTHER HEALTH ISSUES OF CONCERN. SHE HAD TO GO TO A REHAB FACILITY AFTER LEAVING THE HOSPITAL. WE HOPE SHE HAS A SAFE AND SPEEDY RECOVERY FROM HER COMPLICATIONS. MILLIE BASS HAS BEEN HOME TRYING TO OVER COME SOME HEALTH PROBLEMS WITH HAVING KIDNEY PROBLEMS AND NO ENERGY DUE TO SOME MEDICATIONS THAT WAS PRESCRIBED FOR HER FOR SOME KIDNEY INFCTION PROBLEMS AND FOR OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS.WE WISH HER A SAFE AND SPEEDY RECOVERY WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. SUE SINOPLE HAD SURGERY IN JUNE OF A GAUL BLADDER REMOVAL, WE WANT TO WISH HER A SAFE A SPEEDY RECOVERY. AL DAVEY HAD SOME LEG SURGERY DONE ON HIS LEG AND WE HOPE HE HAS A GREAT SUCCESSFUL SURGERY WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES OF CONCERN. YVONNE MACOMBER HAS TWO MORE TREATMENTS FOR HER CANCER ISSUES, WE PRAY FOR HER TO BE CANCER FREE AFTER THE TREATMENTS ARE COMPLETED, AND HOPFULLY SHE WILL HAVE NO FURTHER ISSUES TO DEAL WITH. ABBIE CONNER HAD A FALL AT HOME AND HAS A BUMP ON HER HEAD AND SEVERAL BRUISES, HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE NO FUTURE ISSUES THAT WILL REQUIRE SURGERY OR OTHER NEEDS. LELAND PARROTT HAD A FALL AT HOME AND HAS HAD TO HAVE A FULL HIP REPLACEMENT DUT TO THE FALL. WE WANT TO WISH HIM A SAFE AND SPEEDY RECOVERY WITH NO FURTHER COMPLICATIONS OR SURGERY NECESSARY. BILL SMITH HAD A FALL WHILE WORKING IN HIS BACK YARD, HE HAS NO BROKEN BONES BUT IS VERY SORE, AND HE WAS BLESSED WITH NOT HAVING TO BE IN THE HOSPITAL. WE WISH HIM A SPEEDY RECOVERY. GRACE BATTAGLIA HAD A TO BE PUT IN THE HOSPITAL WHILE VISITING A FRIEND IN MOBILE DUE TO WHAT WAS TOLD OF A GAUL BLADDER ATTACK, SHE IS NOW HOME AND STILL NOT DOING WELL. SHE IS OXYGEN FULL TIME AND WE WISH HER A SAFE AND SPEEDY RECOVERY AND SHE IS DUE TO HAVE SURGERY SOON. WE ARE PRAYING FOR HER TO OVERCOME HER HEALTH ISSUES AND GET BACK TO BEING HERSELF AGAIN WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES.ELAIN MORLEY HAD A FALL AND HAS BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL AND HAVING SEVERAL TEST DONE TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH HER FALLS AND WITH KNEE PROBLEMS OF FLUID BUILDUP. PLEASE KEEP ELAINE IN YOUR PRAYERS FOR A SAFE AND SPEEDY RECOVERY. SHIRLEY INGRAMS HUSBAND PASSED AWAY ON JUNE 20TH. FROM A LONG TERM OF CANCER ISSUES AND OTHER HEALTH ISSUES.OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY FOR THEIR LOSS. ROBERT DUPOIS PASSED AWAY ON JUNE 18TH. FROM HEALTH ISSUES OF CONCERN THAT HE COULD NOT OVER COME. OUR PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY AS WELL, FOR THEIR LOSS. TO ALL OF OUR SICK, HOME BOUND AND MEMBERS IN DISTRESS AND HOSPITALS OR REHAB FACILITIES, WE WANT YOU ALL TO BE AWARE THAT YOU ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS DAILY, AND WE DEEPLY MISS ALL OF YOU AT THE CENTER.

WE HOPE THAT EVERYONE ENJOYED THE FATHERS DAY CELEBRATION AND LUNCHEON IN RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION TO ALL OF OUR FATHERS, GRANDFATHERS AND GREAT GRANDFATHERS. WE THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY IF YOU SERVED IN THE MILITARY AND FOR YOUR IMPORTANT ROLL THAT ALL OF YOU PLAY IN OUR LIVES. WE APPRECIATE AND THANK  ALL OF YOU.

THANKS TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED OUR FIVE DOLLAR BAG SALE THAT WAS HELD ON JUNE 30.YOUR PARTICIPATION AND SUPPORT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. WE HAVE A YARD AND BAKE SALE COMING UP ON SEPTEMBER FIRST. TABLE RENTAL IS $5.00 PER TABLE PLUS TAX. PRE SIGN UP AND PRE PAY TO RESERVE YOUR REQUESTED NUMBER OF TABLES DESIRED. WE WOULD ALSO APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS OF BAKED GOODS FOR OUR BAKE SALE. THE PROFITS FROM THE BAKE SALE AND TABLE RENTALS GO TO THE SUPPORT AND NEEDS OF OUR CENTERS EVENTS, ACTIVITIES AND MORE. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SET UP YOUR TABLES ON FRIDAY AUGUST 31ST. BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 12:00 NOON -2:00 P.M. NO LATER.

WE ARE SORRY TO HAVE TO LOOSE OUR FOURTH FRIDAY NIGHT BAND (JAMES  THOMPSON AND THE COUNTRY CLASSICS.) DUE TO THE BAND LEADER MOVING OUT OF THE PENSACOLA AREA. WE WISH THEM SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN THEIR NEW DESTINATION. THEY WILL BE MISSED BY ALL OF THE PARTICIPANTS ON THEIR FRIDAY NIGHT SENIOR NIGHT OUTING AT WESCO CENTER. THE ROUTE 66 BAND WILL BE THEIR REPLACEMENT. THE TIME WILL BE THE SAME 6:00-9:00 P.M ON THE 4TH. FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH.

ALL MEMBERSHIP IS NOW DUE FOR 2108. PLEASE CHECK WITH FRONT OFFICE FOR CURRENCY IF YOU ARE UNSURE. THE MEMBERSHIP WILL BE CHECKED AT THE FRONT DOOR FOR THE JULY EVENT LUNCHEON. WHEN WE HAVE NEW MEMBERS ATTEND AND WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN SOME OF THE EVENTS OF INTEREST TO THEM, PLEASE MAKE THEM ALL FEEL WELCOME AND PLEASE KEEP IN MIND WHEN DOING SO THAT WE ALL NEED TO TREAT EVERYONE AS WE WOULD WANT TO BE TREATED OURSELVES. THE CENTER IS FOR EVERYONE TO HAVE A PLACE TO GO, ENJOY MEETING AND HAVING NEW FRIENDS TO SHARE FUN, FELLOWSHIP AND STORIES WITH, SO THAT THEY ENJOY THEIR GOLDEN YEARS OF FRIENDS FOR LIFE FROM OUR CENTER FOR SENIORS.

ON JULY 21ST. WE WILL BE HAVING ANOTHER AARP DRIVERS CLASS. PRE SIGN UP IN THE FRONT OFFICE. YOU PAY THE INSTRUCTOR THE DAY OF THE CLASS, BY CHECK OR MONEY ORDER, NO CASH. MAKE CHECKS OUT TO AARP.

ON JULY 14TH. WE WILL HAVE OUR PICK NIC INSTEAD OF OUR COVERED DISH LUNCHEON. PLEASE DO NOT BRING COVERED DISHES OR DESSERTS, ALL FOOD FOR THIS LUNCHEON WIL BE PROVIDED BY THE WESCO CENTER. NO SAVING SEATS, EXCEPT FOR THE KITCHEN STAFF, THE COOKS AND THE ENTERTAINEMENT. DINE IN ONLY. ENTERTAINMENT, 50/50 DRAWING, DANCING, DOOR PRIZES AND MORE.FUN BEGINS AT 11:00 A.M.

ON JULY 25TH. FOR OUR BINGO DAY, WE WILL HAVE A BAR-B-QUE SANDWICH PLATE AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE THAT IS GOING TO ATTEND OUR BINGO DAY. WE ASK THAT YOU PRE SIGN UP IN THE FRONT OFFICE FOR THE MEAL SO WE KNOW HOW MANY WILL BE NEEDED. ALL PROFITS GO TO THE CENTER FOR OUR EVENT AS A FUND RAISER FOR WESCO NEEDS AND ACTIVITIES. IT WILL BEGIN AT 10:30 A.M.-UNTIL 11:45 A.M. NO LATER, DUE TO BINGO CARDS BEING PUT OUT AT 12:00 NOON.

ON JULY 28TH. –(SATURDAY) OUR LAST AND FINAL MEETING FOR THE VIRGINIA BEACH TRIP.  AT THIS MEETING, ALL BALANCES MUST BE PAID, ROOMING LIST COMPLETED, AND ETC. SO THAT WE CAN RECEIVE OUR PACKETS BY MAIL. IF WE DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH PARTICIPANTS SIGNED UP (35 OR MORE) THE TRIP WILL BE CANCELLED.THE TIME FOR THE MEETING IS 10:00 A.M.
